Osprey Aether 60 vs Atmos 65
Similarities Between The Aether 60 And The Atmos 65
We love these backpacks for the fact that they are fully featured and will allow you to go on a trip for an entire week. But if you’re one of those people who pack a lot of stuff where trips, these backpacks are also great for just the weekend.
We have made a list of all of the features that the Aether and the Atmos have in common below:
- Removable top lid: The top lids of these backpacks are completely removable. This exposes the contents of the main compartment. So they have a flap jacket that is specifically designed to cover up the contents. Removing the top lids will serve to eliminate some of the weight when you do not need the extra pockets.
- Tool attachments: These backpacks have two attachments for your trekking poles and other accessories.
- Compression straps: There are compression straps that run vertically and horizontally on these backpacks. This is great if you like to keep your backpack tight. This will help prevent swaying back and forth due to loose content areas.
- Adjustable harness: The harnesses on these backpacks can be adjusted to your particular height.
- Antigravity technology: The harnesses are made with Osprey’s own antigravity design. It is with this technology that people feel like they are carrying much less weight on their backs.

Unique Features Of The Osprey Aether 60
What makes the Osprey Aether 60 unique is the fact that its removable top lid doubles as a day pack. While the Atmos 65 does have a removable top lid, the top plate is useless on its own.
It is great to have a small day pack to carry with you throughout the city. Or, you may like to take short hikes in the woods while you’re at your campsite. There is no need to bring along a separate day pack if you have the Osprey Aether 60.

Unique Features of the Osprey Atmos 65
As mentioned above, the Atmos has a few more bells and whistles. Here is a shortlist of them below:
- Front panel pockets: The Atmos 65 has two zippered front panel pockets. This helps to keep organized with your smaller items.
- Extendable hip belt: The hip belt can be extended to 5 inches in order to accommodate various waist sizes.
- Strong curvature: There is a stronger curvature in the back on the Atmos 65. Some people feel that it makes the backpack less comfortable, while others actually like the extra curvature.

The Verdict
In making the comparison between the Osprey Aether 60 and the Atmos 65, we say that many things are the same. The main difference is the volume capacity and the fact that the Osprey Aether 60 has a daypack as the top lid.
Although one thing you may not realize is that if you have a rather flat back, you may not be able to wear the Atmos 65 comfortably. The strong curvature of this backpack can make or break it for some people. Some people actually feel that the curvature is good because they have a curved back.
Either way, both of these backpacks are so similar that they easily feel like the same people. The Atmos 65 generally has more volume capacity, so if you’re going on a week-long trip, you made better off with it.
