CamelBak Classic vs Rogue
Similarities Between the CamelBak Classic and the Rogue
Both are minimalistic hydration packs that were specifically created for those short treks on your bicycle.
They carry 2.5 liters of water, which is their main function. Since these are made to be used on a bicycle or while running, they have reflective strips on the back.
Both feature the new Crux reservoir, an upgrade from the older models. The Crux reservoir delivers up to 20% more water per sip. Moreover, it has a leak-proof on/off leaver. This means that you can take sips while being certain that your hydration pack will not leak in between.
All in all, they are both made for the same purpose. If you will be cycling for 2 hours or less and need to keep yourself hydrated without having to carry a lot of gear, one of these hydration packs could be for you.
Now that we have covered the similarities, lets go over the major differences.
Differences in Features of the CamelBak Rogue vs Classic
While both of these hydration packs are slim and lightweight, the CamelBak Classic is the most minimalistic between the two. The Classic only has one pouch apart from the main hydration pack. In this pouch, you can store small items such as your keys, your wallet, or your iPod. But if you are looking to carry a bit more than this, perhaps the Rogue would be best.
The reason why some people prefer the Rogue is the fact that it has more pockets. It has one interior slip pocket and two exterior pockets. However, these pockets are not very large. But they do allow you to carry more items if needed. For example, you could carry some energy bars or your iPhone, etc.
Despite the fact that the Rogue has more pockets than the Classic, it does not take up more space on your back. With the added cargo space, you can be sure that it will be more versatile than the Classic.
While both hydration packs are very lightweight, they do differ slightly in overall size and weight:
CamelBak Classic: Measures 38 x 25 x 10 cm. and weighs 190 grams
CamelBak Rogue: Measures 39.4 x 27.9 x 15 cm. and weighs 426 grams
As you can see, the Rogue is slightly bigger and weighs a bit more. For most, this is not an important consideration. While you are wearing either one, they are so lightweight that it is difficult to even notice if they are there apart from the reservoir’s tube in the front.
