The Armasight Spark Multi-Purpose is a generation 1 monocular.

Currently, there are 3 different generations of night vision monoculars. When looked at in a vacuum, the 3 generations differ in the following way. Generation 1 monoculars amplify light about 1,000 times. On the other hand generation 2 monoculars amplify light by 20,000 times and generation 3 monoculars amplify between 30,000 to 50,000 times. Keep in mind that this does not mean that a generation 1 monocular always stands on the lower end of the spectrum relative to the other generations. The design of a particular monocular has more to do with its quality overall than its generation does. Suffice it to say that a high-end generation 3 monocular would cost over $1,000 to purchase.

Armasight Spark Review

Perhaps one of the things that sets the Armasight Spark Multi-Purpose apart from the others of its generation is the fact that it uses a ceramic compound fused with metal alloys for tubing instead of glass. This monocular is highly durable and great for rugged conditions.

The Armasight Spark Multi-Purpose  also has better clarity than others of its generation, and it has virtually no edge distortion.

Armasight Spark Night Vision Monocular Features

  • Magnification: 1x – 3x
  • Distance: You can see figures as far as 490 feet.
  • Resolution: The resolution is 60-70 lp/mm, which is double the typical generation 1 night vision monoculars at the same price.
  • Weight: The Armasight Spark  is one of the lightest digital binoculars of its kind, weighing in at just 12.2 ounces. This is a great bonus considering that the Armasight was made to be tough and very durable. Mount this up to rifle, and it will not tilt the rifle sideways.
  • Batteries: The Armasight Spark takes CR-123 3V lithium ion batteries. Most night vision monoculars run on AA batteries, with a battery life of only 3 to 4 hours with the illuminator on. However, with the lithium ion batteries, you can keep the CREATIVE XP turned on with the illuminator for over 40 hours without needing to recharge.
  • Hilton infrared light: The built-in infrared illuminator casts light beyond 20 feet.
  • CORE tubes: The CORE tubes remove edge distortion, increase photosensitivity, and double the resolution.
  • Scope adapter: Unlike many other night vision monoculars, the Armasight Spark has a scope adapter so you can attach it to a rifle.
  • Camera or camcorder adapter: With the optional camera or camcorder adapter, you can shoot photos or video of what you are seeing through the lens.

The Verdict

Armasight Spark night vision monocular is an excellent choice if you need to purchase a high quality digital monocular with an affordable price. In fact, it is ahead of the game when it comes to generation 1 monoculars. And for a price that is just under $500, you can have double the resolution and clarity compared to the others of the same price range.

However, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, the Bushnell Equinox is also a good choice. It is a digital night vision monocular that can also be mounted to a rifle with a scope. It can record video and snap photos. However, the Bushnell Equinox can only magnify up to 3x, while the Armasight Spark magnifies up to 5x. Granted, the Bushnell Equinox costs only half the price as the Armasight Spark .

Another great night vision monocular is the Firefiled Nightfall2. The Firefield is an analog monocular, which means that it cannot be used during the day or to record any videos or snap photos. This monocular costs $70 less than the Bushnell Equinox. And if you’re interested, we have created a separate review comparing the Bushnell Equinox to the Firefield Nightfall 2 monocular.

With all of the night vision monoculars featured on the site, we hope you have found what you’ve been looking for. They are all highly recommended with outstanding quality and affordable prices that other brands can’t beat.
