Similarities between the Renegade and the Gambit
Both the Renegade and Gambit have pockets for many types of electronics. They can hold a 17-inch laptop, a tablet (such as the iPad), a cell phone, and a variety of other electronics. There is a special pocket for your mouse and camera, and they have a crush resistant tech volt pocket. In this pocket, you can store very fragile electronics.
Each of these pockets is protected by foam panels. You will find far more protection from use backpacks for your electronics in any other type of backpack.
Apart from these padded pockets for your electronics, there are side utility pockets for your smaller items. This package can be used for things that you’ll be retrieving on a regular basis. Either way, both backpacks can fit a 17-inch laptop.
Materials
The Renegade has a tighter weave than the Gambit. They both use canvas material. But the Gambit uses 420D canvas, while the Renegade uses 600D canvas material. This makes the Renegade a bit more durable over the long run.
The Renegade is also more padded than the Gambit. You will get more protection for your electronics this way.
RSS laptop protection system
The major advantage to the Renegade is the fact that it has the RSS laptop protection system. RSS stands for ‘Reactive Suspension System’. The suspension system cradles your laptop and provides extra protection.

Overall, our vote is for the Renegade backpack. The reason why is that it offers more protection for only a small difference in price. It has more padding around the electronics, and its materials are thicker. But the biggest advantage is the fact that it has the RSS laptop protection system. If you are truly concerned about drops, this laptop protection is a must.
The only advantage that the Gambit has over the Renegade is that it is slightly larger and holds 14% more volume. But we feel that the most important reason for why a customer would purchase these backpacks is the fact that it carries electronics in its highly organized padded pockets. The fact that it has 14% more volume is only incidental.
