Scarpa

The Scarpa company was founded in northern Italy in 1938. This family-owned company brought together all of the best shoemakers in their local area in order to produce the best possible footwear.

Early on, the company was purchased by Luigi Parisotto. This man had begun to learn about shoemaking by the age of 11 years old 1940. At the age of 13, he had gone to work for Scarpa. He and his brother’s hand-crafted shoes, and started their own shoe manufacturing business in the 1950s.

In 1956, he and his brothers purchased Scarpa. Onward to 2005, Scarpa opened up a North American headquarters. They expanded their lines to include many different types of footwear. To this day, Scarpa produces the best quality shoes for telemarking, skiing, hiking, and mountaineering.

Asolo

At a time of war, people were eager to help out their country and anyway they could. It started as a small shop run by the Zanatta family. Through years of running their shop, they had perfected their footwear creations based on popular demand.

After the war, the second generation of the same family took over the business. In 1975, the Tanzi family founded Asolo. The third generation of the Zanatta family bought the Asolo brand in 1998.

We are now onto the fourth generation of the family. The Asolo brand has been one of the innovators in footwear for decades and is continuing to improve upon its models.

More Information
In trying to compare Asolo and Scarpa, it is becoming increasingly difficult to decide which of these brands is better. Since they have been around for such a long time, they have had ample opportunity to implement modern technology with their boots. In both of these brands, the following are included:

  • Gore-tex waterproofing:

The most advanced way of waterproofing boots is to add a Gore-Tex inner lining. Gore-Tex is the best way to protect against rain and puddles. Gore-Tex is used equally in both the Scarpa and Asolo boots.

  • Leather uppers:

Both these boots make use of natural leather in various forms to make their boots durable. Apart from making them durable, they also provide stability for the foot. It’s important if you’re going to be doing some heavy backpacking or mountaineering. These models come in full-grain leather, as well as nubuck.

  • Traction:

The traction that is provided by the rubber outsoles depends on the formation of the lugs. Lugs must be deep enough to provide plenty of traction for those wanting to hike uneven terrain or on slippery surfaces. But not all boots have the same lug formation. Both Asolo and Scarpa are well aware of the lug designs that are required for various types of terrain.

  • Synthetic midsole:

A great way of providing stability to the foot is to provide a reinforced midsole that is abrasion-resistant. Both these brands incorporate this sort of technology.

  • Breathability:

When needed, breathability is optimized around the upper and midsole area. Not all shoes require waterproofing, and less waterproofing means more breathability.

Both of these brands have great reviews by customers. In fact, customers have a difficult time trying to decide between them because they are similarly featured, and similar in quality.
