What Is Similar Between The Roadie 20 And The Tundra 35
- Color options: The Rroadie and the Tundra models are available in desert tan, ice blue, and white colours.
-
Indestructible: These coolers are virtually indestructible. The Yeti is known for its durability in coolers. Their durability can be attributed to their rotomolded construction. The Yeti Roadie and to Tundra are specifically constructed to be bear-resistant.
- Shuts tight with a padlock: Apart from having T-Rex latches that snap them shut, these coolers also come with holes within the molding that allow you to shut them tight with a padlock. This way, they will not snap open. The latches on these coolers are virtually indestructible. You hardly ever hear of broken latches with the Yeti!
- Freezer seal: In order to keep the cool air in and the hot air out, these coolers have a freezer sealer inside the top lid. This is why it is said that these coolers have a no sweat design and are virtually leak-proof.
- Drain hole: Your ice will eventually melt after a few days. But you don’t want the water to effect the contents of your cooler. You can let the water out through the drain hole on the bottom side of these coolers.
- Keeps ice for days: Compared to other cooler brands, the Yeti keeps ice for a significantly longer time. They have 3 inch insulation within their walls.
Comparing The Yeti Roadie vs The Tundra 35
Now, we’re going to compare the Roadie and the Tundra based on a few important elements that are crucial in deciding which of these models to purchase.
- Size: Not surprisingly, the Roadie 20 is significantly smaller in volume capacity and in size than the Tundra 35. The Roadie measures 18 ½ in long x 13 5/8 in wide x 14 3/8 in high. And when it is empty, it has a weight of 16 pounds. As for the Tundra 35, the dimensions are 21 in long x 16 in wide x 15 ½ in high and has a weight of 17 pounds. When you consider the difference in size, the extra pound of the Tundra 35 seems pretty negligible!
- Portability: In terms of portability, the Roadie 20 is significantly lighter than the Tundra 35. However, the Roadie comes with a large stainless steel handle on top. This allows you to carry it very effectively. And although the Tundra 35 is significantly larger than the Roadie, it does not have a top handle. Perhaps Yeti assumes that the Tundra it will be carried by two people, because it does have two side rope handles.
- Dry goods basket: A great thing about the Tundra 35 is that it has a dry goods basket that you can insert into the top of the container. This will allow you to carry around your sandwiches and keep them cool without getting wet from the melting ice.
- What they can carry: The Roadie 20 can carry 20 pounds of ice and 14 cans of beer. On the other hand, the Tundra 35 can carry 35 pounds of ice and 24 cans of beer.

The Verdict
Both the Roadie and the Tundra are high quality cooler models from Yeti. They are both designed in much the same way to include all of the important features of a high-end Yeti cooler.
Many customers decide between these models based on how many people they will be feeding and how long they will be out on a trip. If you would like to just take a short trip with a couple of friends, the Roadie 20 can be sufficient.
But for longer trips and larger parties, the Tundra 35 may be the best choice.
